Mobile Storage: Packing Tips
Loading Vault
Protect your items with furniture pads or blankets. (Any item sitting by the walls of the vault should be protected. Heavy or large items should be placed on the bottom of the vault. Pack your items as tight as possible to prevent damage or movement. Distribute the weight evenly. (Avoid packing all the weight on one side or end of the vault.) If the vault is not full, level the boxes to help prevent movement.
Safety
Maximum weight is 2000 pounds in one vault. No liquids, hazardous or flammable material in the vault. Brace the door open when loading. (For safety.) Kids should not play in or on the vault. Distribute the weight evenly. (Avoid packing all the weight on one side or end of the vault.)
Furniture
Protect your furniture by using furniture pads or blankets on all of your items. (Especially any item next to the wall of the vault.) Disassemble furniture, if possible, to save room. Mattress and box springs should be put in protective bags.
Appliances
Clean and drain liquids from all appliances. Tie off appliances by using hooks on walls. Tape down moving parts. Put baking soda in appliances to prevent mildew.
Breakables
Wrap each item separately with foam, plastic or paper. Fill all open space with paper to ensure a tight fit. Stack dishes on their side and glassware upright. Pictures and mirrors should be wrapped in paper and packed into picture boxes. (Do not lay flat.)
Closing Vault
Lock the vault. (Each vault must be locked before pick up.) Securely close the tarp door. (Using velcro strips.)
